Hello everyone and Happy New year! I hope you had a blissful time with your family and loved ones and that you are ready to gain new memories and memorable experiences. Cannot wait to find out what great 2020 has in store for everyone. This year's first post we will kick off with the review of a well-known romance book from Cecelia Ahern (also the author of NYT bestseller "P.S.I Love You") called "Love,Rosie". I hope you will enjoy reading it and welcome back everyone! Rosie Dunne has known Alex Stewart her whole life, precisely since they were five years old. They are mischievous,quick-witted and always on the run. There are no secrets between them except that they are madly in love with one another. Everything seems to fall apart when Alex moves to the US since his father got a new job there. If Alex had not gone to the US and instead gone to the prom dance with Rosie, she would have never asked Brian and end up being pregnant with his child. Alex is devastated,as is Rosie and her family but they supported her from day one. She will never move to Boston with Alex and started her degree in hotel management. As Katie grows up gradually,Rosie realizes that she cannot live in her parents' house forever and finds an boring job and cheap apartment to rent. At that boring job she bonds with Ruby with whom she will bond an everlasting friendship although she is ten years older than her. When she visited Alex in the US,she locked her lips with him and never talked about it again. In the years that are about to come,it seems like they will confess their undying love for one another but life always messes it up. Alex meets Sally and Rosie meets Gary and although their marriages fall apart, there was never a word about that day in Boston before when their lips touched. Alex is frustrated by the situation and writes a letter in which he confesses his feelings and that he is ready to be with her only if she says. Gary gets hold of that letter and it will not see the light of day for a very long time (and I mean years for God's sake!). Rosie's life seems to be falling apart and somehow she always messes it up. She feels like she is stuck in a labyrinth of endless suffering, pain, frustration and making ends meet with her poor salary. She wants to go out there into the world, meet new people, give her daughter Katie a better life, follow her dreams and not worry about how she is going to pay the bills. When she finally decides to quit her life in Dublin and move to Boston,Brian ends up asking to be in Katie's life when he has not been a part of it for thirteen years straight. Rosie cannot take that from Katie since she always needed a father figure in her life and so she stays. Alex thinks that this is the time to move on and falls for his high school crush Bethany who also helps him to skyrocket his surgical career in the US. Rosie and Alex seem to be like parallel lines that will never meet each other but one day faith decides to put an end to this roller coaster. Gary gives her the letter when Alex poured out his heart and Rosie is out of her mind. It took them nearly fifty years to end up together but better late than never, right? I detested the form of this book. It was written in form of e-mails and instant messages. Maybe I was used to the old writing style because I missed the descriptions and emotions although Ahern tried to keep them even in this form. I did not quite like this book because I watched the movie before and I felt like the movie got the important part of the story. The book feels like a constant drama cycle without an ending and capturing unnecessary details and happenings. The movie captured their high school days,Rosie's pregnancies, their first marriages and then they ended up way faster together which makes more sense to me. Ahern tried to prove that true soul mates know no time and distance and that the important thing is that they end up together but personally that bored me to death. Firstly,I could not wait for the book to end but I grew quite fond of it at the end since it thought me a lot about how everyone struggles on their feet, how life works and how love is a very complicated segment of our lives. It reflects on the fact that everyone should just make a move on their crush. Maybe it will be too late and although Ahern thought it was not almost fifty years later,in reality it is. So if you have ever read this book or if you will, then please make a move. Risk. You will never know the answer if you do not ask. Books and movies try to teach us that time is just a concept but in reality it is not merciful on everyone. Life does not spare anyone so go out there. Kiss your crush, make memories and just live your life. Get out of your comfort zone because you never know how much it may cost you! Movie stars the incredibly talented Lily Collins and Sam Claflin.
