“I still have a lot to figure out, but the one thing I know is, wherever you are, that’s where I belong. I’ll never belong anywhere like I belong with you.” Planning a vacation and you do not what to read? People We Meet on Vacation is a funny, heart-warming and friends-to-lovers book that will capture not only you attention but heart, too. 2021 winner of Goodreads' Best Romance, surely this is a book that captured many hearts worldwide. Poppy and Alex became friends during their freshman year of college. Two friends who could not be more polar. Alex is dependable and academically driven while Poppy is spontaneous and a day-dreamer. How their friendship endured, remains a mystery. Is it the invisible string that has been tying them since the day they first met? Poppy wrote for a travel magazine and pursued her social media career. Being an influencer brought her many opportunities including free trips and once in a lifetime experiences. Alex was her travel buddy and he came along whenever he could. It all worked well for a while until their trip to Croatia. Some things happened between them no one dared to discuss. Poppy felt lost when they lost contact. Alex was her one true friend and losing him meant losing a part of herself. While working on a new column for her magazine she figured a trip is just what their friendship needed. She could do both work and clear the air. It could be like the good old days. But would Alex accept such an invitation? What if the old flames awoke? Was it okay mixing business with pleasure? Friends-to-lovers is not the genre I usually gravitate towards to. Personally, enemies-to-lovers is a better pick for me. In friends-to-lovers they usually know everything about eachother already and there is not anything spontaneous and new. This book is realistic in many ways. Going on trips together for many years without ever catching feelings, even for a bit, is unrealistic for me. It is completely natural that after so many years, something happened between them in Croatia. Being in a relationship and having a close friend from the opposite sex, means trouble in paradise. It feels like you constantly have to choose one of them even though you should not. No one should be put in that position. Every love is different in a way and they cannot be comapred. This book should not be read by someone who wholeheartedly believes in friendships with the opposite sex. I believe it would annoy the hell out of them because it is expected that a boy and girl, despite being friends for a long time, fall for eachother eventually. This book is a very predictable but relaxing read which makes it perfect for a vacation.
