For a while now,I have been curious about the renowned author that is Jane Austen. After reading a list of classic books you have to read during your lifetime I have decided to give this timeless classic a try and convice myself that it is not a classic without a good reason. After picking up the book at my local library,I started the journey to England where I met Elizabeth Bennet and her four sisters in a place called Longborn. Life was not always easy on her because of her family's low annualy income and her sistes' dumbness. She seeked shelter in her oldest sister Jane's company and her father's,whom she loved the most. A new neighbour was close by and it was not just any neighbour. It was Mr.Bingely who was a heartthrob, absouletly charming and rich what mattered the most to her mother. Her mother was obsessed with the idea of her daughters marrying rich gentlemen because they had no brother and their home will be inherited by a cousin whom they have never seen,Mr.Collins. After a visit to Mr.Bingley's mansion,Jane gets sick and stays there for a while. Her mother is sure that she will convince Mr.Bingley of her charisma and beuaty. Elizabeth decides to visit her beloved sister and meets a very interesting yet very proud man,Mr.Darcy. He is the complete opposite of her. Proud, merciless and unassuming. But they have also a lot in commoin-both straightforward,single-minded and headstrong. Both catch feelings for eachother and try to hide it underneath the cover of rudeness. Mr.Collins pays a visit to his cousins' and proposes to Elizabeth. She rejects him because he is nothig but a hypocrite and not very gifted by means of wit. Her friend and neighbour Charlotte accepts Mr.Collin's proposal the next day. Mr.Bingley puts up a ball where her whole family behaves unappropriately. He leaves not so log after that. Mr.Darcy comes up in every conversation she has with a stranger and so with Mr.Vikam. He lies to her about Mr.Darcy's character and true intensions. After Mr.Bingley leaves, her mother is devastated because she thought him and Jane would be married by the end of summer. A lot of time passes and Elizabeth feels like she is followed by Mr.Darcy's ghost because he apperas to be known and talked about very much. He confesses his undying love for her and proposes her when she visited Mr.Collins and her friend Charlotte. She rejects it because she believes that he is the reason why Mr.Bingley never wrote or visited her sister during the time she was in London. He assures her that he has nothing to do with it or with the fact that he is the reason why Mr.Vikam is so unfortunate. In a letter he explains her everythings and she regrets her past assumptions about him. Only her sister Jane knew what happened and was pleases however her sister decided to act. After a while, she visited the province with her aunt and uncle, where he had a mansion more a castle to be precise. They meet again and luck does not last for that long, because her sister Lydia decides to run away with Mr.Vikam unmarried. They went home straight away and in a way to show Elizabeth that he changed since last time,he finds Mr.Vikam and Lydia, pays for their wedding and his remaining debts. The same month Mr.Bigley returns and proposes to Jane. As if that was not enough,Mr.Dracy and Elizabeth convince their undeniable love for eachother, get married and live happily ever after. This book is not called Pride and Prejudice for no reason. Pride stands for Elizabeth and Darcy's pride to confess the love they have for one another and prejudice stands for all the prejudices Elizabeth had towards him and how he convinced her otherwise. While reading this book I realised how Elizabeth was a rolemodel for girls back then and still is for girls of this generation. She taught them that they should be stubborn, honest, straightforward and determined. An important lesson was taught by her: never feel intimidated by man. She always spoke her mind and was ridiculously witty. Her character was amusing and made me realise why she is so loved by readers all around the globe. No wonder why Mr.Dracy is still the ladies' most loved male character til today. He had undeniable charm, boldness and intelligence. A very high standrad for men was set after plenty of women read this book. The one thing that moved me was Elizabeth's sense of loyalty and respect she felt for her family. Although they embarrased her all the time, she still loved them and always chose them over her own happiness. The way she protected them and stood up fro them really got into my head how nowdays no one feels a sense of duty or loyalty towards their family. Elizabeth rejected her own luck for the sake of her sister's and that is what inspired me. Without a doubt, she is one of the most admirable characters I have ever had the privilege to read about and I hope that she continues to inspire many women and girls who are struggling with finding themselves and determing their future. Be fearless,be bold and never forget where or from whom you come from.
